Battle Of The Books

A voluntary reading contest called Battle of the Books began in the fall semester and continued into the spring promoting reading in grades 3 and  4.

In Battle of the Books two grade level teams from each campus will advance to the district competition.  Each team is formed from one of the following grade level combinations:

Teams consisting of five 3rd and 4th graders (plus 1 alternate)

Teams  consisting of five 5th and 6th graders (plus 1 alternate)

There can be an unlimited number of participants at the school level.  During the first week of March, there will be a campus level competition to determine which teams of students will advance to the District level competition.

Students are required to read nine books chosen by Battle of the Books.  There is a list for the 3/4 grade teams and a list for the 5/6 grade teams.  The school library will have at least one copy of each book (most books will have multiple copies).  Students may opt to purchase their own books in order to make notes and highlight information if they wish.

Students must commit to read all nine books and to attend after school practices/mock competitions on Wednesdays.

If you are interested in volunteering to co-coach a team, please email Mrs. Jones
